I grew up in Southern California, and can still remember the excitement of being old enough to get my own library card (There may or may not have been an incident where I cut my older sister's card into pieces after a fight, and out of sheer envy because I was still too young for my own.). The freedom of exploring the children's book section is something I remember to this day--and that's probably because I never left it. Years later, I realized writing those books was something I wanted to do. These days, you'll find me writing and helping other writers tell their stories. That is, if I don't already have my nose in a children's book.
